<br />How 'bout spinning that kit around? Staring at a concrete block wall while playing is no fun!

<P>Hello...</P>
<P>I actually have a stagestar myself, and i was wondering which bass drum head is the best for this kit. I bought a Coated Emperor and it is awful, no rebound and no sound. <IMG src="smileys/smiley19.gif" border="0"></P>
<P>Which one do you guys think i should get?</P>

<strong>Yeah! Bring back the limited edition Stagestar!</strong>
I found a guy selling the Limited Edition in white marine pearl. He's asking $450.00. I thought about getting it for my younger students to learn on.&nbsp; It's hard&nbsp;for a 6 or 7 year old to reach the&nbsp;drums on a full size kit.&nbsp; I'm just a little skeptical about the riser for the bass pedal. It looks like it pulls the beater back too far away from the bass drum to get a solid punch.<edited><editID>drumm</editID><editDate>2008-2-4 22:1:10</editDate></edited>

The guy ended up selling those limited edition drums to someone else even though he and I has an agreement. I found another stagestar kit with ZBT cymbals with it for $300.00. I have G2's on the toms, Evans Genera on the snare and an emad on the bass. The kit sounds amazing. I love it!

I just bought one of these kits used and in new condition complete 5pc set for 400.00. I have to say I think I got a great deal. I'm using it as a rental for a yearly event I do. I'm really a soundman not a drummer. My question here is should I cut a hole in the kick drum front head for micing? I have not seen one pic in this forum of a kick with a hole. Is there a reason I shouldn't do this? Will it affect the tone if I do this? I have to say I love the tone of this kick and would hate to lose it. Any advice? Thankks!&nbsp;

hey cwend...i think dat u shouldn't cut a hole in the front head. at the moment, i hav this kit...itz a great kit, but i'm gonna get a superstar soon. this kit's bass drum iz nice n punchy with very little boom. i'm thinkin' dat if u cut a hole...there would b almost no boom at all...n it would sound very 'flat'. if u r gonna use this kit&nbsp;only for&nbsp;micing situations...then go ahead with the hole cutting. i hope this helps.

Playing the drums is a passion.

Cwend, if you put a mic. hole in the front head, keep it small; just big enough to get the mic. in. If you have a bass mic. that you can spare, get a May system and mount it inside the bass, that way you don't have to cut a hole.<IMG style="CURSOR: pointer" &#111;nclick="AddSmileyIc&#111;n'smileys/smiley2.gif'" alt=Wink src="http://www.tama.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0">

<P>Hello I am new to the forum and I am a Drummers Dad. The first kit I bought Cody was a Tama Stagestar. He is very small for his age and was playing a First Act Kit I bought in Toys&nbsp;R Us.&nbsp;Cody loved the drums so&nbsp;6 months later he got&nbsp;The Stagestar Kit. </P>
<P>I had been shopping around and kept going back to this music store Music Central and one day Bob said if you want that kit its yours for $300.00. It was like the hand of God granting me my wish to upgrade Cody because he had already started taking lessons. Cody was 8 years old at that time.</P>
<P>This kit, once I learned over the first year how to tune it and get the best sounds out of it, is excellent. He is almost 12 now&nbsp;and&nbsp;his teacher uses it to jam with him at the end of&nbsp;his weekly&nbsp;lesson. He&nbsp;loves&nbsp;The Stagestar Kit. He said he would gig with it.&nbsp;</P>
<P>I already knew it was a great Kit because Cody had been playing on it for 3 years before Doug started teaching him. I learned to be my sons Drum Tech. It took time but I learned to tune That Stagestar Kit for my son. We love the Evans Heads G1</P>
<P>Check it out. Please. I dont know how to post it on this site but type in the search engine on Youtube&nbsp;"10 year old drummer Cody rocks tama drums"</P>
<P>Great Forum....... Codys Dad, Rob</P>

Did you practice your lesson today?
