There were two spur types with different diameters for the spur, and different shaped rubber tips and metal collars, but all have the same thread. The early (thinner) spurs used the same tips that were used on the floor tom legs of the same era. If you want them then you would probably either have to buy some of the spurs complete...they turn up regularly on eBay. Or you could buy some early floor tom legs and use the tips...

The thicker spurs will obviously not fit into the brackets on the drum that are designed for the smaller ones. But the brackets themselves fit the same hole pattern drilled into the shell. So if you have the older spurs you could do what I did to my '79 Superstar and buy spurs and brackets complete from a later drum (post '81). They also turn up on eBay regularly, just none today.

If your spur that has a foot looks bigger than pictured on thos floor tom legs, then it is the later type with the thicker spur (1981 and on). It is exactly the same tip with the same thread as my mid 90's Starclassic has.

So the threads are all the same, either buy two new tips, hunt around for an old spur, or wait for a set of post '81 spurs and brackets.

Did you ever find the rubber tips you were looking for? I have 4 of them and could certainly let go of 2.
