What's the difference between a hyperdrive and a hyperdrive EFX?

Hi guys, looking at making a nice purchase of a new tama superstar hyperdrive, but really want it in the red silk finish in the 6 piece. I emailed a shop in the UK and they said the red silk finish (they called it the EFX) is only on the 5 piece (gutted!)

Is there actually any difference between the hyperdrive and the EFX, am am I just shelling out another £200 for a pretty colour?

EFX means a covered or wrapped finish. Without that designation means a painted finish. Hope this helps!

damn, so actually no difference in the shells or build quality etc. That all of a sudden does seem like a lot more money for essentially the same thing, may have to re-evaluate somewhat.

Cheers for the help!

Don't know if this will sway you or not, but I was going to get sugar white and changed my mind to upgrade to the Red Silk EFX wrap and I love it. I am still waiting on three more drums, but I enjoy the hell out of my 5 pc. I have now.

If you can swing it go for it. But...then again, I couldn't spring for a StarClassic over the Superstar. For the money I had and the drums I wanted, Superstar filled the square.
