I know its nooby to ask "whats the best drum head for a drum," since it depends on preference, so I'll just ask if anyone knows which one will give an octoban a more focused sound, ec1 or ec2

thanks in advance

WOW, EC heads on Octobans? I can only imagine how dead that would sound. Remo CS Black dots or Remo clear Emperors are what I use. Octobans seemed to be pretty focused and controlled to begin with, why would you want to focus them even more? Maybe it's the pitch your tuning them at that you don't like, not the heads?

I have Remo CS Black dots on my Mirage Low Octos (4 Acrylic) and on my
set of Blue Sparkle Low Octos (4). Punchy and controlled, the dot actually
focuses the sound a bit, maybe a bit too much.

Clear Remo Emperors on my 2 Hi pitch Octos. A cool effect but kind of dulls
some of the characteristic that you want from octos. I keep them on b/c
they create a unique sound that I use on sountrack stuff.

I have clear ambassadors on my crimson fade kit's low octobans (4) and for
the best octoban sound interms of general application I would say use these,
or G1's if you are an Evans dude. They'll sound like Simon's. Remember
don't crank them up too high or they'll sound like tin cans.
Holy cr@p, how are octobans too open for you? They're either out of tune or are tuned too high. As for the best heads, I like dot heads on them, but ambassadors work just as well.
