Just purchased (6) Tama ML11 Memory Locks for my Tama Imperialstar Floor Toms 14x14, 16x16. I labeled each lug & leg w/memory lock with corresponding letters A,B,C, with my Dymo Labeler to expedite setup. After precisely placing memory locks on legs & tightening legs to lugs, I noticed that when I tried to remove legs, I couldn't, the memory lock keeps me from pulling the leg out! The memory lock won't go past the resonant hoop! What's the use? Anybody experienced this problem? Wall

Hey there, yeah i have this problem too with my starclassics, although i manage to just slip the locks past the resonant hoop if i do it right. I noticed that when i loosened the master wing nut on the actual tom then i was able to get the leg out easier, so maybe this will help?? I know somebody will be able to help! Haha,

Cheers, Jake

Hey Jake, Thanx for your response! I'm playing a Gig this Saturday 4/16/11 2nd Band on the billing, 1 of 4 Bands, one of those "Rush in-Rush Out" situations, anyway because of the expediance of the venue, I chose to take my "Practice Set" (Imperialstar) to the Gig which I have at our practice studio not wanting to damage my "Starclassic Performers". To reiterate about the Tama ML11 memory locks, I totally backed out the screw from the lug & it will still not come out past the resonant head! So I decided to put the memory lock on the top side of the leg & keep the legs on the drums for now, I'm running out of time! On my Starclassic Performers, the tolerances are tight, but the legs still come out. I think I will take these back to Guitar Center & look at some other memory locks that do not have so much "GIRTH"

Yeah, that sounds like the best idea! As long as they do the job for the gig! Ive noticed that no-one in the crowd really gives a monkeys how something looks on stage (apart from other musicians!) so as long as it does the job, then thats the main thing! :-)
Thats a nifty idea you had about putting the locks on top, maybe its worth using that method for the gig and then finding a more sustainable way afterwards. Good luck with the gig mate,

Jake

Jake,
Once again, thanks for your feedback. Your right, knowbody in the crowd gives a Monkey's *#@ about the setup, but You & I being Drummers, we are pretty "Anal" about how we like things to be a certain way! Rock on Chap!
