I need some opinions on tom sizes. I was thinking about tom sizes today and was considering maybe 10x7 and 12x8 rack Toms also 14x14 and 16x16 floor tom set up.... oh and I play metal style music.

Guys I know, who play fast tempo metal, are going with the hyper drive sizes for their slightly shorter decay.

I personally use hyperdrive sizes and I love everything about them. I know people who think they're silly, and others who agree. But it's all a matter of preference realistically. I could tell you to get a 10x6.5 tom and the next person could tell you to ignore the 10x6.5 and get a 12x11. We'd both be right. Sit down on a few kits if you can and see what's most comfortable, if you like the stock sizes, go for it. If you'd like something more shallow, well, go for it.

Definitely go with the 14x12 and 16x14. Much more versatile than the square sized floor toms. Happy
About 10 and 12 - everything between hyperdrive and accelerator works great in various different genres and tunings.
