He put them into the back of his 1991 station wagon with great care. He wasn't some rich kid with a BMW throwing drums around from gig to gig.

I'm happy. I'm also sad. To see them go.

It's been 4 years and I find myself looking for my Tama set again :(

I would like to get Birdseye maple, but with the Granstar lugs if possible. I'm not hurting for it though. I just find myself wondering if I could find another Granstar Custom set out there. The size problem of the deep shells I would try to work around by sitting higher and using more traditional grip. I never liked the 13 tom though. For jazz, I often used just the 10 tom and the floor tom.

But my interest is in having something in addition to my current collection. That means more space to store it, but it also means having variety to choose from.

I should have kept the snare though. As a keepsake.

You guys were supposed to tell me that kind of stuff :)

Although harder to find, Granstar Custom comes in normal depth toms as well. You don't need to get the longer Xtra shells. Problem solved.

BOUGHT! The Tama Crestar shell pack on ebay, from Alberta, Canada! It's missing the 8, 10, and snare, but at least I can touch something familiar again. Tamas were my first serious kit with lots of memories. It is a Granstar Custom with Crestar badges. $1400 plus $350 shipping (recall I sold mine for $1000, including 8, 10, snare, cases). I guess that's the price you pay sometimes.

The toms are cut downs, so I'm taking my chances!!

Yak, keep on blushing LOL! That is going to be one hell of a kit!!

Hey, I'm interested in the Crestar badge you have. Send me your paypal info so we can get that in the box!

You also mentioned a 10x8 tom in one of your recent posts... I'd be interested in getting ahold of that. Is it Cherry Wine as well? If not, what would you charge to sand and refinish one??

Regards,

Steph

steph: I will contact you privately on your questions.
I'm going to include the spare Crestar badge no charge, but will hold on
to it for now to see if you/we/us find a 10" tom.
I may know where one is.
