I have a question regarding custom ordering a Starclassic set. I have been racking my brain trying to source out a Stewart Copeland Signature Set, scouring Ebay, Buy Sell Ads, Music shops and generally the internet, but no luck., So I decided to ask my local Tama retailer about custom ordering an identical set (Starclassic Maple similar configuration to Stewart signature set) in blue sparkle or perferrably in 'police blue sparkle'. I was told that the original blue sparkle is no longer available and that I am out of luck. Is Tama serious?? I have beeen told that a custom order may take between 6 to 12 months to arrive into Canada which is pretty bad, but what make it worse is I cant even get the color I want that is available by most other brands.

Tama, is Blue Sparkle no longer available? Not even a custom order? I though they were offering discontinued colors on ad-on peices, why not on full sets?

Blue Sparkle should be doable but not the darker police blue sparkle.

Matthew or Tom will confirm shortly.

You would problobly have to order the entire set as "add ons" thats just how it works with custom orders...also are you in canada?? because then you would have to talk to Efkay Music...If you are in the US I can help but otherwise its Efkay that has to work it out for you.

as far as "sparkle blue" being available...That is something we will have to check with the factory...it really depends...we may have a "sparkle blue" but its likely only one shade etc, I won't know untill I talk to my drum guy

step one is to let me know where you are really. and we can take it from there

Ok just got word...we can do a "sparkle blue" but not "Police Sparkle Blue" for legal reasons...there is a contract, we can only make "so many" of those kits.

Thanks Matthew. I seen in another post that if the color was available in the last 5 years, then it should be no problem to order. Sparkle blue was listed in the 2009 catalog. So I hope that increases my chance. Also, are the painted stenciled badges available as an upgrade on the starclassics? or am I stuck with the bolt on ones?

yeah regular sparkle blue is all good...it can be done...

they would be Japans specs from last year for everything...badge is a decal.

Awsome... Anyidea what kind of lead time I can expect? Also, Im in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Do I custom order through Efkay or through my retailer. I hope the person taking my order will know 'how' to order the older finishes without messing up.

it'll be thru the dealer, but I'd contact efkay to make sure you get the correct item number.

Lead time is 120-150 days if the distributor doesn't have them stock, which can really offput some people, but others will tell you it is worth the wait.

You get a custom, made to order drum.

Ask GONGBASS about his Police tribute kit.
He did the whole thing in our standard Starclassic "Blue Sparkle" before the Copeland Sig kit came out in the Police Blue Sparkle.

His kit is impressive!!

Just saw some pics of Gongbass' Blue Sparkle kit... Yes!! it is amazing. Now to wait and hear what the cost of my kit is going to be. The other day my Tama dealer figured the 7pc blue sparkle kit was going to cost in the order of $14K ..WTF? I can buy 3 5pc SC kits for that much.. something must be wrong. Anyhow, I should find out tomorrow.
