Hello all!, Im new to the Forum as well as new to Tama Drums!

My kit configuration is the 7 piece Spartan set with a second Valkyrie snare.
Zildjan Cymbals (2 Avedis.2 K's,1 OLD school ride,New Top Beat Hats)

Anywho

Just came by to say hello and introduce myself, Ive been playing for 15 years metal style mostly however in my old age Im playing alot more Country and Classic rock now. I do enjoy Latin American as well.

Im just trying to set up this new kit now and I can see myself going back and forth to the drum shop a million times for this piece and that piece trying to get it built the way I like.

One thing I am NOT used to, is the double floor tom thing... Thats going to take some getting used to, I usually have my 14 stand mounted and was possibly thinking of converting that drum over but Im going to end up with leg mounts no matter what even if I spring for a 14 Nickel Starcast mount...What to do Lol Im sure I get used to it.

Question!

Does Tama make or is it possible to Tom Stand mount a Snare Drum? I want to run my second snare up as tom number 1 then 8 10 etc..

Also I usually have a hole cut into my front Bass head...Not doing that on the Warlord hide. Does it sound ok if I pillow the drum and then seal it back up?

Thanks again!

They have something called the Air Ride system. Not sure how it works or if it works with a tom stand. You can look it up from the front page of the forum.

I have my orig. heads with the reso non-ported and the Evans pillow thing. I plan on experimenting before too much longer but I'm happy with it like it is right now.

Welcome aboard.

Well Im looking into that Air Ride mount for sure, Does anyone experience the snare bouncing with that mount?

I also saw under the rack mount section on Tama's site a Claw Style for rack applications so Im looking into that as well.

I couldn't believe the difference between the Valkyrie and Spartan Snares! I purchased the Maple one about 3 weeks ago and loved it but it replaced my Mapex Copper Hand hammered Black Panther and my Supraphonic Ludwig. I really did like the Ludwig but its ancient and Ive been playing it for 15+ years. The Spartan is a major contender against that snare! My Dad who's been Ludwig his whole life and can't tell him different, even listened to it and was amazed. But open I like the Valkyrie better! So Im going to use the Spartan as my main and keep the Valkyrie open and off to the side.

Now Im just trying to pack it all in on 4 stands as Im a rack mount hater Lol. I had a Gibraltar years ago and didn't like having to be a pipe fitter to set my drums up!

Im probably going to have to use a few pipe to pipe connectors to keep the stands rigid though, off to the drum shop I go...Hi ho!

Well if anyone's reading I got the second snare in!

I used my cymbal stand and came off it with two unions to a Omnisphere snare stand top. Worked like a charm!

I initially tried to use the second tier of the double tom stand but after hours of wrestling could not get the 8" and the snare to sit side by side properly...But patience prevails!

The second tom tier just became a dual cow bell mount! Lol

Once I get them all cleaned up and polished I'll post some pictures!

Now to spend HOURS cleaning my ancient cymbals and repainting the black parts back in....ugh

OH Btw I put my feather black pillow in the bass and sealed it back up! WOW That drums like THUNDER!! INCREDIBLE! Thanks!
