I have an Imperialstar/Rockstar kit. I just put Imperialstar on my signature to avoid "complications." Anyways the drums are two toms that are Imperialstar a floor tom that is Imperialstar and a bass drum that is Imperialstar. I have a Rockstar bass drum and floor tom. I also have a rockstar 8 inch tom, but I don't use it. I had the Imperialstar for maybe two or three years before I got an add-a-kit. So what I wanna know is, are the Imperialstar and Rockstar bass drums different thicknesses? Because no matter what I can't get them to sound the same. The other day I was knocking on the shells themselves with my knuckle and it seems that the Rockstar is deeper than the Imperialstar. Does this mean that the Imperialstar is thicker. I should also mention that when ever I tune the two bass drums the Rockstar is always lower and more "thunderous" in a way. So if anyone has any knowledge of this, could you give me answer please? Uhhhhh, thanks.Tama Imperialstar black(2004?): 12x9 13x10 16x16 22x18 22x18 14x5.5 Stainless Steel Snare Tama Starphonic Aluminum

probably a silly question for me to ask but have you used a drum dial on it? are both batter heads the same? are the batter heads worn out? what about resonate heads? even the way your pedals are set up will change the way they make the drums sound depending on torque, power and speed. Also the imperialstar drums are made of poplar. If I am not mistaken I believe the rockstars were made of birch/basswood? So naturally the rockstars will have a lower tone. this will make tuning slightly more difficult but should be manageable by messing with the resonate head. It will be difficult especially if you are not experienced with tuning. best of luck. 6 piece Tama Superstar Hyper-Drive in Brushed Metallic Black Kick- 20x22 Tom Toms- 6.5x10,7x12 Floor Tom- 12x14 and 14x16 Snare- 6x14 Starphonic Limited Edition Steel Hardware:Tama and Gibraltar stands and clamps Tama Iron Cobra double pedal

Well, I don't have a drum dial (yet). But the way that I tuned the bass drums they should basically be the same. If you take a Tama drum key, and use the "hitch" type thing on the top of it. What I do is make the batter sides finger tight, then I use the "hitch" and tune as tight (it doesn't get that tight) as it can until I can't turn it anymore. Then I tuned it a quarter of a turn. That was for the batter side. Then for the resonate side I did the same thing but turned it half of a turn. The resonate heads are "different" though. They are both Tama stock heads, but one just says "Tama" and the other reads "Tama" on top and toward the middle it has a "Imperialstar" insignia type thing.Sort of like this;http://th279.photobucket...etaljay/th_IMG_0481.jpg
Sorry, it's a little small. It's the only one I could find.As for the batter sides, my Imperialstar is about two years older. I'm quite sure the problem is that, or different thicknesses or what you said; different woods. If it is different woods, I'm an idiot for being able to tell. But the pedals are the same basically. I think one pedal may be a little lower than the other, but they pretty much are the same. Sorry it's so long. But I'd rather write one big reply giving you everything you need to know, then 15 little posts. Although that would've brought up my post count.
