I have a birch/bubinga red sparkle fade from 2001, made in Japan. I'm looking to buy a 12" tom as I only have a 10" and 14". I'm having a hard time finding toms that match my exact kit, so I'm debating on buying a bubinga elite 12" that I found online. Will the bubinga elite be overwhelmingly different than my other toms and bass drum? Any other information on mixing and matching toms would be appreciated as well. thanks.

If your drums are 2001, they can't be birch/bubinga, because bubinga came in 2006 only in bubinga shells... Maybe you have birch performers from 2001...

Agreed. Birch has a lighter color wood interior, B/B's and Bubinga's all have darker wood interiors.

That being said, I see SCP drums on ebay frequently in that color.

personal preference, but i've played enough of these kits to advise that a 12" will NOT be a good fit sound wise. the bubinga toms (especially 12" and up) sound bigger than they are (very low-end when tuned low) and more melodic resonance than b/b. i love the B/B but IMO it will be hard to get everything sounding similiar if you just have one bubinga tom, so I'd hold off for an ebay 12" b/b. just my 2 cents...
