The rumors are getting louder and louder every day... What do you think... I think that in that case, DT is going to be more "evil" than ever, cause MM is not just a Great drummer, he's a Scientist behind the drum kit or without th drum kit... I think the choice couldn't be better Dance Dance Dance Dance Dance

This was a great video series. I watched all three in succession. It was really cool to watch how the DT team approached the auditions and how much respect there was everywhere. Marco Minnemann was killer, too! Thomas Lange seemed detached, even though he apparently played the parts with ease. But Mangini really put his heart & soul into it!

Was definitely cool to see the different personalities, the side beyond drumming. Most of these guys I have heard/read about but never heard them speak. Mike looks like a good fit and I think I will definitely check out the new disc when it comes out. How wierd is it that the new drummer's name is the same?

It's kinda hard watching some of my favorite drummers compete for the spot. I mean I like all of them and obviously DT can't have them all.....or can they

interesting to watch these high level players compete in an audition at this caliber. DT made a great choice though with Mike. but no more Tama drums on the DT Throne. Mike plays Pearl drums.

I really don't like Dream Theatre too much but I am a Mangini fan going way back to his days when he replaced Paul Geary as the drummer for Extreme. Mangini joining the ranks of DT may make me an avid listener to their new stuff. Now that Tall Shortnoy is no longer in the equation, they may become more likeable. Way to go, Mangini!!!

I have to say I always DID like Portnoy, but since he left DT he just whines every chance he gets, and he's put me right off him. I was right here on these very forums defending him when he left DT and so many of you here said at the time he seems arrogant and self centred, and do you know, I think you were right.

I hope DT make some great music with Mangini, who is a superb musician and a super nice guy. I am actually far more excited about DT's next release than I have ever been about any of the last 2-3 albums with MP.

Not a big DT fan and certainly no plan of Mike's playing (less of his personality and I've met him numerous times). However the little video series they did really got me interested in what they do next. I've met Jordan a bunch of times and he's always been a cool guy and from the video the other guys in the band seem like humble, down to earth guys as well. Mike Mangini should be a perfect fit. I'm so impressed by everyone's personalities that I'll buy whatever they put out with Mangini.

Our bass player is a huge DT fan, I really can appreciate their level of muscianship and like their music to a degree, but their singer's voice is a noid to me.
Portnoy screwed himself out of a job...a job no less than one he founded, that has to hurt.
Mangini is awesome, very interesting character, seems a little OCD to me.(then again what drummer isn't to a certain degree eh?)
The Pearls' should give an interesting change on their new album, whether it's a good change superior to Tama yet to be heard..anyone know what kind of cymbals he uses ?? Never did like the Sabian sound of Portnoy.
Kind of funny the band had neither brand in the audition studio.

I like Mangini but will admit I hate his Pearl set-up.... I don't know why. Maybe because I have been a Tama user since 1983.

I can't play like either one,nor do I aspire to either. Give me Jim Keltner any day. This type of music is and always will be for comic book fantasy loving adolescent 40 year old man/boys that still live in their mothers basement and STILL think "power" toms, mullets and dragons are cool.

I see Dream Theater won a Grammy last night. I don't think they ever did that with Portnoy but I could be wrong...
