yes, the floor tom legs have always been an issue with the lower sized floor toms. I also wish that Tama would manufacture higher tom legs. The finish is not custom, I saw it in the 2009 Catalog I think and felt in love with it. It is the most beautiful finish I've seen, even better than the White Pearl with Diamond Inlay that I used to have. The detail of the lacquer on top of the paint and the inlays is great. But more importantly, the set sounds like a typical Bubinga..punchy, great mids and low end. I also would prefer the older, deeper sizes like the 10x9, 12x10 etc.. but these shorter toms are fine. Sonor published an article many years ago about the sound properties of the 8x8, 10x10, 12x12 sizes for their signature lines.. I miss those.
Anyway, what is great about Bubinga is how their tone transfers into the recording. I'm glad you liked the pictures
