Yup had bought the 4pc jazz shell pack in transparent red burst. The bass drum riser was not square with the drum. Also, the lifter was too close to the edge of the drum, making the pedal hyper extend to reach the head.Customer service was severely lacking.Quality control none.In speaking with Jay,Jessica, and richard, were they thinking it was my fault?Jay has tried though, after realizing some faults maybe.I also will have to take the drum to a custom builder to redo bearing edges of the bass drum.Yeouch! The replacement drum's lifter was out of square also..The drums have been paid for,but it's like I've been unable to use them because of these problems.I've also ordered a matching 24" bass drum that I've been told would be here by November.Today's date is 11/24/11.I since used them on 2 different gigs,to get feedback. Not bad sounding, even w/stock heads. When the larger bass drums arrives,I'll check the bearing edge on all the drums.Hopefully I won't have to send them back. No,I won't send this third bass drum back.I don't trust tama's customer service at this point.tama has not convinced me of any compensation for time, gas, mileage, frustration, lack of customer service,no quality control, etc.I'ved took pics and filmed the lifter problem. The folks at customer service9jessica,jay)has seen the pics.I'll also film the before and after concerning the bearing edge of the bass drum. This will go on youtube so hopefully,no one else will be bitten.Still,I have paid for a set that I can't use, yet.I have a starclassic 20" bass drum that is fine.I have lots 84'era titan stands that still work fine.(I take care of my equipment)Just don't understand.Oh,and the hoops on the silverstars are ok.If I need beefier,I'd buy 2.3,just for 12"and 14" toms.

When and where did you buy this kit? When did you first report any problems you're having and what were they? I have no idea in what time frame this is all happening. In my opinion, posting these problems on YouTube is not the sugar needed to resolve your problems. Exhaust every other possible avenue first before starting to flame. When I first examined Silverstar kits, they left sort of a sour taste in my mouth on a number of different issues and I believe that I reported these on this and another forum when I was asked to do so. At that time the drums were fairly new to the market and many people evidently didn't pay much attention to my postings. These in no way are high end drums and their cost reflects this, but if you're having so many problems that you can't play and enjoy them, something should be done to rectify it or maybe you should try to get your money refunded if there is no valid solution.

Well,I had bought these drums recently.Ordered them in June, the 4 pc jazz kit and a 24" matching bass drum. The 4 pc came not too long ago.I noticed the lifter problem quite soon after.Took pics and filmed.Hav'nt posted those, but sent them to jessica, and jay and whoever. The replacement they sent was out of square too.Sent it back. They finally sent one that had the out of square problem resolved. The other, lifter placement,is in limbo.I may have to get an after market riser. That's two bad drums. The replacement has `dings' in the bearing edges of the bass drum. The store I bought these drums would/will refund my money.Best store in the state. That would only solve part of the problem. The responses that I'd gotten from customer service was a bit condescending.I've kept those too.I purchased these drums for a reason.I'm still awaiting the 24" drum.Yes I have other sets that I can use,but again, there was a reason I wanted to try these drums.Just maybe QC will step up to the plate if I do post getting a professional to redo the bearing edge.Again, after my responses,it seems that I can't trust them.No compensation for time, gas, waiting, frustration, brand loyalty, etc, etc.I took a chance of this set over another brand.Tama billing itself the strongest name in drums, and this happens. The other brand,I've had hardware issues and not enough color choices,Now I wonder what brand I'd go with,in slmilar sizes(any suggestions?).

I believe the "pedal reaching" is an issue on all of the 18" drums. It is on my silverstar kit.

Also, please use paragraphs and spacing next time you post. It is VERY difficult to read.

I recently bought a Tama Silverstar kit and for the most part they sound great (6 piece set, 10,12,14,16, 14 snare). Well actually the 10", 14", 16" toms and snare sound great but I could not get the 12" tom to sound good at all, just would not go in tune. I took the stock head off and found two little low spots on the bearing edge, I even tried an EVANS G2 coated head but still sounded bad. After further investigation there also seems to be 2 different angles on the bearing edge, as if the router angle was changed when the bearing edges were being cut, weird.,, I called the music store I bought them from, sent them pictures and they sent them to TAMA, so now I am just waiting to see what they say about it!!!
On a better note, besides the 12" tom, the drums do sound good, for the price. Because you do get what you pay for...

Well,if you're referring to me,send me an email and I'll send you a slew of pics. The fellow with bad bearing edge on the 12" tom, unsure of his fix.The other complaintent, with the over reach on his 18" bass drum, unsure. The third bass drum they sent back still had some over reach, but I filed the holes with a round file. That made the adjustabilty better. My bearing edge on the third 18" bass drum has `dings' on it.Dennis Stauffer of Stauffer/Phattie drums was to have redone the edge on it.Unfortunatly,he passed away.Well respected in the drum industry for his top quality work.Unsure if I can do them myself or what. With new heads on most of the drums, they do sound fine. This was/is to be an experimental kit.I'll use them this year as soon as twoo 18" bass drum heads come in.Then I'm buying some American made drums.Tama's customer service didn't do enough justice with this incident.
