Hi all :) I haven't been here for 2 years, Hope everybody is bangin' away. I just bought back my 78' Saturn 12+1 imperialStar drums from a young Wippersnapper(head)..lol.

They are the concert tom set in Midnight blue. The Whippersnapper managed to add a few minor scuff marks and scratches to what was an almost mint set of shell wraps.

Anybody got any suggestions as to how I might polish these transgressions out ? What techniques. tools and polishes I should use.

Thanks for any and all replies. I hope to have some pixs up soon.

Nice to be back.

:) yak

Welcome back to the forum. If the scratches in the wrap aren't very deep, I recommend using the Novus Polishing System. Excellent product and it works better than anything else I have ever tried. I learned about Novus when I was restoring a customer's Ludwig Vistalite Kit. Check out Novus here: http://www.amazon.com/No...h-Remover/dp/B000J41VDM . Hope this helps.

I'm sure I can source it up here.

Got the Novus polishing stuff. Sadly some of my scratches are too deep. I even tried some 1000grit sandpaper(wet) and then worked my way down from there. I pray I can find some replacement midnight blue wrap. Ha... not likely.

Oh well. The drums don't know they are scratched, and they sound fine...hehehehe

It's a shame that so many people don't look after their gear very well.
Letting the toms sit on the kick drum has got to be the worst.

Bummer about the scratches, but cool you got them back and they are still a solid set of drums.

fortunately the scratches are not on the top of the bass drums..
They are on the sides of some of the toms..nowhere near the tom mounts.
At least they are somewhat hidden.
Most likey due to poor transport protection.
