so here's the deal.

I purchased a brand new starclassic b/b performer dark mocha fade 5 piece kit.
I decided to add another 22" bass drum and a 18"floor tom 6 months later.
I paid 2000.00 up front to have these extra drums special ordered and was told the wait would be 6 months.

The drums arrive in 7 months (awesome!!!, i am so happy to have them)
Then.....I open them and there is next to no fade on them and are obviously completely different looking from the rest of my kit. (very unhappy at this point).

Had i known that the fade could not be matched i never would have ordered the drums and no one mentioned that there would be any problems with matching a fade. Also no one asked for any pictures of original kit which i would have supplied if asked to help assure a match.

After approx 2 months the retailer gets word back from tama that they will rebuild the bass drum only! I am stuck with the 18" floor tom that looks like crap compared to the rest of the kit. I guess tama's thought is that it's stuck in the back of the kit and no one will see the difference.

It's now a year late since i was told that tama would be replacing the bass drum and I am still waiting!

Any one on here wanna step up and give me a contact to start climbing a corporate ladder to light a fire under someone's ass?

To date I have waited 21 months and have spent nearly $4500.00(canadian) on shells that don't match and am one very unhappy customer of tama's

Being Canadian I don't think this U.S. site will be able to help you much. EFKAY is the Canadian distributor (and I have yet to hear anything good about these guys unfortunately). Hopefully someone there can help you out.

A Tama rep on this site should at least be able to comment on what the proper procedure should have been (i.e. sending in photos of your fade etc).

Well...this is a lot to take in!

While dreamkastor is correct, we can't help you since this forum is owned and operated by the U.S. distributor, The best thing you can do is figure out what is going on at Efkay.

Efkay is how your issue will be fixed...unfortunately I don't have any more info on them than the general contact information located on the Tama site dedicated to Canada.

we are completely seperate entities...

Have you spoken with anyone there directly? or just your dealer? did Efkay tell you they were replacing it?

sending in pictures of an issue always helps and having an accurate timeline of "when you spoke to who about what" will also help your case.

The only setback I see that could hurt you is time...have you sent them back the incorrect drums? I'm just wondering if maybe some lines got crossed and Efkay may have a different understanding of the situation.

I would call them for sure.

Update

I talked with someone at efkay
apparently the replacement bass drum was accidentally rebuilt by Tama and shipped to efkay as two single twenty inch bass drums instead of a single twenty two inch.
No one realized the mistake at efkay and they were never shipped from efkay to my retailer.
Apparently when the mistake was realized at efkay nobody did anything about it and the twenty inchers sat there collecting dust and no one reordered it again.
Apparently the eighteen inch floor Tom was never being replaced by Tama because my retailer only requested a new bass drum to be rebuilt.
This is all alot to believe and seems like a lot of smoke up my ass for damage control for poor service but who knows.
Good news is they are very apologetic and hopefully the ball is now rolling.
Thanks for the line on efkay u guys
Regards
Carlyn

That really bites. I can totally understand your frustration. Hope it all works out for you. Amazing that most the people in this world are incapable of actually doing their job.

You spent good money and have waited long enough. I hope the satisfaction of playing your complete set makes this problem fade from your memory.

Please post pics of your set up when you get it copleted. I would like to see it.

It's amazing how companies could really care less about the average. Even though you spend thousands. Very sad.
