I am have been looking at purchasing a new kit. I must be crazy because I have a multitude of kits. My two requirements are overall drum height and ease of carry. I have been looking at a lot of these "bop" like kits with an 18" bass drum. The Hyper-Drive has a lot going for it; birch shells, what we used to call fast toms (in the old days,) diecast hoops, extra deep bass drum...

What I mean by low is I like to set toms up flat and low. Ideally, my first tom a simple flick from snare drum. Tom two will disappear for I usually play a four piece set-up (I dig on the two floor tom setup.) I also play traditional so snare to tom combinations under my hat become hit or miss if too high. Tilting toms is not really in my cool book...

...so the ultimate question is: lower tom 1 as low as possible, flatten it out and measure it. What can you guys measure it out at?

If a 20" or 18" bass drum was an option, i'd already have one on order.

Thanks for your input.
