Does anybody have any pix of Tamas early versions of acyrlic drums?

I saw an interview from the 2010 NAMM show where the Tama rep said
Tama was producing clear acyrlic drums as far back as the early days of Star Drums.

I am aware of the RoyalStar Crystar series and the 2006 Starclassic Mirage series, but I've never
seen any images of anything older.

In another blog someone said they saw an earlier Tama acyrlic kit with Supe or Imp badges and hardware,
but he thought it might have been a one off...

TIA

Dardrum: Those look like they were awesome drums. Especially the larger set.

I agree we always learn to late which stuff we should keep and what stuff should move on.

The reason I ask about acrylic drums is because of this snare I just finished.

I was looking for some more detailed history on Tama acrylic drums.

I had some spare parts laying around and a set of Cannon Die Cast hoops, and thought

what the heck...LOL

I hav'nt played it yet, other than tuning, however is has a nice sharp sound so far.

Hi aje : no thats an aftermarket shell.

you mentioned Tama/Star....

as in my first post on this thread, I was not aware Star was building or at
least selling acrylic drums. It would be kewl to see some pix or learn more.

Well,,yes and no. They were excellent drums but I made the decision a few years ago only to own starclassic drums,,,well except snare drums.

Yak,,,that snare is very nice,,,I like it a lot.

He Yak...

I scored some clear acrylic Octos on Craigslist last night and posted about them. I'd be interested in getting some feed back from all of you acrylic guys on how to proceed with them...so check it out.

Again...kick ass job with your blue snare. Very tasty indeed.

jt: I think I saw the clear Octos you scored...nice

I know almost nothing about acrylic drums, and the only one I have is the sky blue snare I just built.

I do know that tuned right, with the right heads, that they sound great.

I also know many people shied away from them, as the perception was that they lacked
certain tone/warmth/resonance like a wood drum does.

I was supposed to do some head/sound testing on my snare last week, and I didn't get
5 seconds to myself. This weekend however is mostly open, so I will be doing head testing
and sharing what I found.
You might want to search for an acrylic drum forum (which I might do myself) for any other questions.

That "other" drum maker will probably have a few forums on the acrylic stuff, as they were more known for
making them.

Or just ask aje-drum... I think he knows more about Tama drums than Tama.... lol

I will add more during the weekend.
