Who made the wood snare drum shells (Artwood) for Tama in the early 80's ?

What thickness were they and did they have re-rings?
Were the seams slanted or straight ?

I believe they would have been birch.

TIA

Ok... Maybe that was a stupid question. However I had heard that Keller
or some other manufacturer made shells for Tama at one time.

There is a bit in this thread, but by and large Tama made them. If they have a diagonal seam they are Tama. The straight seam ones I think are Jasper, but I've not revisited the linked to thread in a while, and my memory needs refreshing :)

Yeah basicly every shell used on a Tama drum be it a snare, tom or bass was made by Tama.. lets specify Pro Lines!! Not sure who made some of the ROC made Swingstars and such. The only Non Tama shell would have been the Mega8 MAPLE snare made on a Jasper ( though some argue it was a Keller.. I don;'t really care)! You could say the Camco maples were Tama but they didn't have a Tama badge sooooo yeah just that one lonely snare series!!

other shells NOT made by Tama would be all the Acrylics, From the early Crystar/ Octobans to Gill Moores Artstar and another ArtII some one had to the Mirage series... The Titan titanium sets, The Fiberstars I'm thinking were subbed out as well!! I also wonder if the metal shelled snares were Subbed out?? but we are only talking wood so these don't count!!

I did read a MD ask a ?? or Pro or whatever it was where Al Duffy of Pearl stated that, Not sure what series, Pearls maple line used to use or does use shells made by Keller. That was in the `80's and Pearl so who cares!

Hey guys GREAT info. I need a wood snare shell for a project, and
I would prefer it to be a real Tama shell.

If I can't find one I may have to go aftermarket.

14 x 8 - 9 ply birch with diagonal seams.

Thanks
