Played the mirage snare Saturday night...really nice drum! I put a ST dry on it, and boy is this drum dry. I think it lives for a single ply non-vented head, so I'll try a PCRD next. It was real happy at a low tuning, especially with that head. My first experience with an acrylic drum...so far so good!

I favor a g1 coated on my (starclassic) mirage snare - I believe that was the original head that came with it. I find the acrylics very mid-rangey frequency wise - so the single ply helps to brighten up the sound imo. The rest of my kit is g2s over g1s - although I have yet to try non-original heads on those.

1990 Artstar II Piano White 4pc (12" 13" 16" 22" kick)

Yes, that's the head that normally comes on all Tama Starclassic and Starphonic snares (unless its an signature model). That's why I'm thinking to run with a Power Center Reverse Dot, just for a little more beef in the center of the head. Happy

A vintage T-Bird in a place full of Dementia patients.....
Isn't that a little risky ?

My dad wanted me to go buy him a car long after he forgot his own name...
And didn't realize he was confined to a wheel chair.

Nice car, nice kit.
