Thanks bro! Well I've never played the SC, and I did own a SP brass once before, but it's been so long I can't remember what I liked/didn't like about it. Think The Wraith is sweet...for it to have 9 vents, it's not as dry as you'd think. But with those vents, the drum breathes nicely, feels nice too! Here's a good example of this capabilities:

It comes with a Evans heavyweight batter head, but I use a Evans PCRD on mine. Hope this helps.

Some outdoor kick pics of the two acquisitions this year....

Both of these finishes are amazing. From the rich grain of the SCM to the tasty flake on the BB shells, Tama hit it out of the park with these

Nitro, thanks man! It sounds beastly. Toms are low and fat but the birch adds clarity to the tone. They record beautifully as well.

  • It's thin, but has a rubber (latex?) backing that won't slide on a wood or concrete floor.
  • Due to its thinness, it rolls up very easily and compactly.
  • When it's rolled up, it's a bit floppy. It's not stiff like the cheap area rugs available at Home Depot/Lowe's etc., but this allows it to lay flat with little or no curl.
  • The cheap area rugs have a coating on the bottom side that dries out over time and leave flakes & particles & smelly dust all over the place. The rubber (latex?) might not decay in the same manner, but only time will tell.
  • It's black, so as soon as you walk on it, there'll be footprints.
  • The sideways, slanted T logo will drive those with OCD a bit nuts.
  • It says Tama. Happy

Not a big deal, but picked up a used Superstar Classic Maple in Cherry Wine. Will put a mesh head on bottom and use as a timbale on my NP replica. For $100, why not.

Here it is stacked on my 40th Anniversary Birch Superstar. I enhanced it a bit to show the grain difference, but the colors are virtually identical.

Did y'all know Tama offers standard 30 strand snare wires? Giving them a try on my Brian Frasier-Moore snare. It originally came with a 42 strand, then I took it down to a 20...so since the snare bed is wide enough, thought I'd give these a try. MS30R14S
