<p>i tried the 6.5x14 snare drum at long and mcquade music in ottawa today. my friend was beside me when i tested the drum. we were in a small room.</p>
<br /><p>in a word= violent! i tough bubinga was supposed to be warm but this snare sounded like a howitzer cannon firing at will. very clean sounding, quite dry. maybe with different head combination the sound woulkd be warmer.</p>
<br /><p>when i saw the snare i was very anxious to try it because at last i had the possibility of finaly experimenting tama bubinga drums. my verdict is that its an amazing snare.</p>
<br /><p>also in the shop there was two mighty rare tama kits. the first one was an exotix from 2004. the famous quilted bubinga volcanic fire. </p>
<br /><p>and the best part! the rarest of the rare. a 2005 reserve maple kit in mediterannean wine red color. most people have seen the sea blue one.</p><edited><editID>JAY13</editID><editDate>2006-4-18 10:5:21</editDate></edited> THERE IS SOME HOPE FOR THOSE WHO OWN THEIR MINDS. CHUCK SCHULDINER.

<P>Yes, that's offered by Tama as what they call "Hyper Drive" tom sizes. - The 16"x13" should be interesting too <IMG src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0"> </P> <P> </P> <P>Note that on my sig measures are depth x diameter</P><edited><editID>WS6Freak</editID><editDate>2006-2-25 16:20:22</editDate></edited> <a href="http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b138/ws6freak/Drums/P6150261.jpg" target="_blank"><strong>Click here for kit picture.</strong></a>

I have a 16x13" hanging floor- get a coated G2 / G1 combo on it and it sounds very fat indeed! <IMG src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0"> memememe! mememememe!

Speaking of snares - has anyone played/own the 5.5"x14 bubinga omnitune? How do you like it? That's the snare that will come with my kit. - I tested one and fell in love, very nice sound! <a href="http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b138/ws6freak/Drums/P6150261.jpg" target="_blank"><strong>Click here for kit picture.</strong></a>

Hey, does Omni Tune have any difference in sound than the regular bubinga, or is the only difference they way that you can change both heads or whatever. Starclassic Maple, Zildjian A Customs, Remo Pinstripes

THe omni tune has just the one lug and when you adjust one side it does the other to? or am i wrong. if it is then it seems like it may be a problem for some people if you like the top looser than the bottom or vice versa Tama Rockstar Custom

You can tune them independantly, i.e. if you tune the top head then the bottom doesn't tighten. It works by having rods within rods that turn independantly. But you can tune the heads seperately and however you want. memememe! mememememe!
